Family Bike, the store has been in existence for 45 years. Both Trevor and Ray worked at the East Longmeadow landmark since they were in their teens. Ray has owned the East Longmeadow store since 2001, buying it from the original owner, Kenny. Around then, Trevor went to college, then ended up living on Martha’s Vineyard while saving money to open up his own bike shop someday. Trevor got the call from Ray in 2007 saying “how about now?”
Family Bike opened in Feeding Hills in 2007 and was a welcome addition to the community. The only other major bike shop in town had closed years before and local bikers flocked to the new, local store.
By 2011 Trevor had moved the bike shop to 270 Maple Street in Agawam into the old Taylor Rental building near Sarat Ford. Just down the street from Robinson Park School, it is conveniently located next to the entrance of a vast maze of trails that eventually make their way into Robinson State Park.
Also nearby is Shea Field Skate Park (and Bike Park) bringing many younger riders to the store.
Family Bike in Agawam is a Specialized Elite Store. According to the Specialized website, “The Specialized Elite Shop provides a best in class retail environment for discerning rider. It is the ideal environment for the rider to engage with the most advanced cycling products in the world in a clear, professional atmosphere.”
The Agawam store is also a Pivot Cycles dealer.
Come in and try a bike or borrow one of their demo bikes and hit the nearby trails.
